# Make your first video

> Go from a new project to a downloaded MP4, ready-to-post copy and cover images, step by step.

This quickstart takes you from a new project to a finished MP4, social posts and cover images. Most of the time is Claude building the video, and you don't have to watch it.

## Before you start

- DemoVexa is installed and set up. See [Install](/docs/getting-started/install) and [First-run setup](/docs/getting-started/first-run).
- Your workspace has an app code folder and has been analyzed. See [Workspaces](/docs/workspaces/overview).
- Your logo and colours are in the workspace's **Brand** tab. See [Brand and design](/docs/workspaces/brand-and-design).

## How long it takes

| Step | Time |
|---|---|
| Brief, script and voice | A few minutes, mostly your reading |
| Scene plan | 1 to 3 minutes |
| Build | Usually 15 to 30 minutes |
| Render, posts and covers | Runs in the background while you work |

## 1. Create the project

1. Click **New project** in the sidebar, or press <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>N</kbd> (on Windows/Linux <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> <kbd>N</kbd>).
2. Pick a type. **Feature Demo** is selected by default.
3. Enter a **Project name**.
4. Under **What's it about?**, write one line about the video, such as the feature you want to show.
5. Check the **Language**. It defaults to the workspace's video language.
6. Click **Create and write the brief**.

More: [Projects](/docs/videos/projects).

## 2. Check the brief

Claude writes the brief from your idea, your how-to guides and your app's code, and lists the sources under "Based on:".

1. Read **The story** and **The one thing viewers should remember**. Edit anything that's off.
2. Add real figures under **Facts and numbers we can say**. Claude won't invent numbers.
3. Under **Format & feel**, check the **Platform**, **Formats**, **Tone**, **Length** and **Call to action**. Each extra format adds build time.
4. Click **Write my script**.

More: [Brief](/docs/videos/brief).

## 3. Approve the script

1. Read the voiceover **Lines** and their on-screen captions. Edit, reorder or delete lines as needed.
2. Check the **Title card** and the **End card**, including the tagline and button.
3. Click **Approve script, choose a voice**.

More: [Script](/docs/videos/script).

## 4. Generate the voiceover

1. Pick a voice from the **ElevenLabs voices** list, or keep the current one. You can play samples first.
2. Click **Generate voiceover** and listen to the lines.
3. Click **Animate with Claude**.

The voice comes before the animation because the animation is timed to the spoken words. More: [Voice](/docs/videos/voice).

## 5. Build the video

1. Click **Plan the scenes**. Claude plans each scene in 1 to 3 minutes.
2. Review the **Scene plan**: the screen, what happens and the caption for each scene. Change what you want.
3. Click **Approve & build**.

Claude now builds the video. It reads your app's code, recreates your screens, times the clicks to the voice, checks stills of its own work and renders a half-resolution preview. This usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.

> [!TIP]
> You can leave the page or work on another project. The **Activity** page shows progress, and you can turn on **Notify me when builds and renders finish** to get a system notification.

When the preview is ready, watch it. To change something, click **Ask Claude for changes** and describe it. More: [Animate](/docs/videos/build).

## 6. Render and download

1. Click **Go to export**.
2. Work through the **Ready to render?** checklist. Each open item has a **Fix** link.
3. Under **Render**, tick the formats you want.
4. Click **Render video** (or **Render N videos**). Renders run in the background.
5. When a render finishes, click **MP4** to download it.

Videos are MP4 (H.264, 30 fps): Reel 9:16 at 1080×1920, Landscape 16:9 at 1920×1080 and Square 1:1 at 1080×1080. More: [Export](/docs/videos/render).

## 7. Write the posts and covers

1. Click **Write the posts**.
2. Open the **LinkedIn**, **Instagram** or **YouTube** tab and click **Copy post** or copy the fields you need.
3. For a blog post, open the **Blog** tab and click **Write the blog post**.
4. In the covers card, click **Make the covers** for a YouTube thumbnail, a LinkedIn cover and an Instagram Reel cover.
5. Click **Download PNG** on each cover you want.
