# Batch builds

> Build several videos from your creation list in one go, now or overnight, and finish the ones that need you.

A batch builds several videos from your creation list in one go: project, brief, script, voiceover, build, renders, posts and covers. You can start it now or schedule it, for example overnight, and review the results in the morning.

## Start a batch

You start batches from the creation list in the right-hand column of the Projects page. To add ideas to it, see [Ideas](/docs/more/ideas).

1. Go to **Projects**.
2. In the creation list, tick the ideas you want to build.
3. Click **Build N**.
4. Choose the options in the batch dialog (see below). The dialog shows an estimate of how long the batch will take.
5. Click **Start now**, or **Schedule** if you picked a later time.

You can also add a project that hasn't been built yet: on its card, click **Add to batch**.

### Batch options

| Option | Choices | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| **When** | **Now**, **Tonight, 1:00 AM**, **Pick a time** | When the batch starts |
| **Formats** | Reel 9:16, Landscape 16:9, Square 1:1 | The formats each video is built in |
| **Scene plans** | **Approve automatically**, **Wait for me** | Whether builds start straight after Claude plans the scenes, or wait for you to review each plan |
| **Render every format** | On or off | Render each video in all of its formats |
| **Write the posts** | On or off | Write the social posts for each video |
| **Make the covers** | On or off | Make the cover images for each video |

> [!TIP]
> Choose **Wait for me** if you want to check each scene plan before Claude spends time building. Choose **Approve automatically** for a batch that runs unattended overnight.

## What a batch does

For each idea, the batch runs the same steps you would by hand:

1. Creates the project.
2. Writes the brief and the script.
3. Generates the voiceover.
4. Plans the scenes, then waits for your approval if you chose **Wait for me**.
5. Builds the video.
6. Renders the formats.
7. Writes the posts.
8. Makes the covers.

If a build fails, the batch runs one repair attempt. Each item also gets one automatic retry.

> [!NOTE]
> Event recaps stop after the voiceover, because they need your photos and clips. Open the project to add your media and finish it. See [Event recaps](/docs/videos/event-recaps).

## Follow a batch

A batch card on the Projects page shows how it's going:

| Card | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Batch running** | The batch is working through its items |
| **Batch: N waiting for you** | N items need you, usually to approve a scene plan |
| **Batch finished** | Every item is done or has stopped |

On the card you can:

- **Cancel** the batch.
- **Retry** an item that failed.
- **Review plan** to read an item's scene plan.
- **Approve & finish** to approve the plan and let the batch build, render and finish that item.

The **Activity** page also lists running and scheduled batches with their progress.

## Keep the computer awake

While a batch runs, DemoVexa keeps your computer from going to sleep. It stops doing so when the batch ends.

> [!WARNING]
> Closing a laptop's lid still puts it to sleep, and a batch can't run while the computer sleeps. For an overnight batch, leave the lid open and check your sleep settings. If a batch didn't run overnight, the computer most likely went to sleep.

Builds, renders and batches that are already running keep going if you close DemoVexa's window.

## Batch sizes by plan

| Plan | Batch builds |
|---|---|
| Trial | Not included |
| Solo | Up to 5 videos per batch |
| Team | Up to 25 videos per batch |
| Agency | Unlimited |

See [Plans and usage](/docs/account/plans-and-usage).
