# Event recaps

> Make a short recap video from your own event photos and clips, with a voiceover, captions and an end card.

An Event Recap is the one video type made from your own media instead of animated app screens. You upload photos and clips from an event, Claude matches them to the script, and DemoVexa adds the voiceover, captions, a photo wall and an end card. By default it's 15 seconds, for LinkedIn.

## The steps

| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| 1 Brief | Describe the event and what viewers should take away |
| 2 Script | Edit the voiceover lines and captions |
| 3 Media | Upload your photos and clips |
| 4 Storyboard | Let Claude match the footage to each line, then adjust |
| 5 Voice | Generate the voiceover |
| 6 Export | Preview and render the video |
| 7 Publish | Write the posts and make the covers |

The Brief, Script, Voice, Export and Publish steps work the same way as for the other video types. See [Write the brief](/docs/videos/brief), [Write the script](/docs/videos/script), [Generate the voiceover](/docs/videos/voice), [Export and render](/docs/videos/render) and [Posts, blog and covers](/docs/videos/publish).

## Create an Event Recap

1. Click **New project**.
2. Choose **Event Recap**.
3. Enter a **Project name** and, optionally, a line about the event.
4. Click **Create and write the brief**.

## Write the script

In an Event Recap script, each line has a role that decides how its footage is shown:

| Role | What plays |
|---|---|
| **Intro** | The opening line, over the title card |
| **Montage** | A quick sequence of your shots |
| **Photo wall** | A grid of your photos |
| **Outro** | The closing line, over the hero shot and then the end card |

When the script is ready, click **Approve script, add media**.

## Upload your media

The Media step is titled **Upload the footage**.

1. Upload photos, screenshots or short clips. iPhone HEIC photos are fine.
2. Click any item to preview it.

### The shot list

Next to your uploads, the **Shot list** shows what the script needs, from Claude. Claude suggests these shots when it writes the script.

1. Capture or find each shot on the list.
2. Upload it.
3. Tick it off the list.

If you add or change footage, click **Re-match media with Claude** so Claude matches the new media to the lines again.

### Continuing without media

You can continue without uploading anything, for example to hear the voiceover or share a draft before the event photos arrive. Click **Continue without media**. Without media, the lines play as step cards. Add your footage later and build the storyboard to swap them for your shots.

> [!NOTE]
> In a batch, Event Recaps stop after the voiceover, because they need your photos. Open the project to add media and finish it. See [Batch builds](/docs/more/batch-builds).

## Build the storyboard

The Storyboard step matches your footage to each line of the script.

1. Click **Build the storyboard**. Claude looks at every photo and clip, picks the opener, builds the montage and chooses the hero shot.
2. Review the storyboard. For each line, the **Shots** picker shows which shots play while it's spoken.
3. To change a line's shots, click **Shots** and pick them in the order you want them to play. Three or more make a quick burst.

The preview updates as you go.

### Photo wall and hero

Under **Photo wall & hero**:

- **Hero shot** is your strongest photo. It grows out of the photo wall and fills the frame under the outro line, before the end card.
- **Photo wall** is the set of photos in the grid. Leave it empty to use every photo except the hero.

> [!TIP]
> Choose a hero shot that works when cropped to every format you'll render. A wide crowd shot can lose its edges in a 9:16 reel.

## Voice, export and publish

When the storyboard looks right, go on to the Voice step and generate the voiceover. Then render the formats you need in Export, and write the posts and covers in Publish.
