Videos from a Git repository

Turn a GitHub repo into a product video

A repository can give a product demo useful context about its screens and workflows. DemoVexa works with the folder on your computer after you clone it; it does not require a GitHub app or repository auto-sync.

Why product demos need care

Clone the repository with your usual Git tool, choose its top-level or app folder in Workspace settings, and pull the version you intend to show. Then describe the workflow, add relevant docs and review the generated scenes. Later code changes do not update an existing video.

How DemoVexa makes a video

Connect a product workspace with its code, website or documents. Start a project with a one-line idea and review the generated brief. Edit the script and on-screen captions, choose an AI voice, your own recording or captions with music, then review the planned scenes.

Approve the scene plan to build an animated preview. Check the screens, labels and timing, ask for changes if needed, then render the formats and languages available on your plan. Export and publish the files yourself.

  • The product UI is recreated from the workspace context; it is not a captured customer session.
  • DemoVexa does not automatically refresh an existing video when code changes.
  • Review product claims, sample data, captions and the final preview before sharing.

What to provide

For a fictional task manager repo, a sample project could explain how a user creates a project and assigns an item. Use non-customer data and check the interface against the checked-out branch.

Add a local code folder or a reachable website, relevant how-to guides or product documents, and a clear idea of the viewer and task. Select the platform and length in the project brief. If you use a repository, clone it locally and pull the version you want to show first.

What you can export

Export an MP4 in Landscape 16:9, Reel 9:16 or Square 1:1, depending on your plan. A project can also provide on-screen captions, timed SRT or WebVTT subtitles, cover images and draft post copy. Each format and language is rendered separately.

Example workflow

For a fictional task manager repo, a sample project could explain how a user creates a project and assigns an item. Use non-customer data and check the interface against the checked-out branch.

Treat this as a sample scenario, not a customer case study or a published DemoVexa video. Use synthetic data and verify the behavior against your own product before release.

Plan your next step

Choose the video type that fits the story, check which formats and languages your plan includes, and leave time to review the finished preview before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Does DemoVexa connect to GitHub?

No GitHub app or automatic sync is documented. Clone the repository to your computer, then point the workspace at that local folder.

Does DemoVexa upload or change the repository?

The code folder is read on your computer and is not uploaded or modified by DemoVexa. Keep control of your own clone, branch and commits.

How do I include recent commits?

Pull or check out the version you want to explain before creating the video. DemoVexa reads the code as it exists on your computer; it does not follow new commits automatically.
