FAQ

DemoVexa FAQ

DemoVexa is a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux that reads your software's code and docs and turns them into narrated product demo videos. It rebuilds your real UI in code and animates it, so there is no screen recording. Videos come in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 and 85 languages. Plans start at $29 a month after a 14-day free trial.

What DemoVexa is and how it works

How does DemoVexa make a product demo video?

DemoVexa reads a product's code and docs on your computer and turns them into a narrated demo. You point a workspace at the code folder, write a brief or let Claude draft one, Claude writes the script, ElevenLabs voices it, and Claude builds the video in React with Remotion. DemoVexa then renders it. There is no screen recording.

How do I turn a GitHub repo into a product demo video?

Clone the repo onto your computer first. DemoVexa does not take a GitHub URL and does not connect to GitHub. Point a workspace at that local folder, in any language or framework, then write a brief or let Claude draft one. Claude writes the script, ElevenLabs voices it, Claude builds the video with React and Remotion, and you render it. Since version 0.3.5 you can also create a workspace from the product website and uploaded docs, with no code, though the screens are recreated less exactly. The code folder is never uploaded to DemoVexa.

Can AI make a product demo video without screen recording?

Yes. DemoVexa recreates the UI as React components and animates it with Remotion, using sample data, so nothing is screen-recorded.

Can I make a demo without the product's code?

Yes. Since version 0.3.5 a workspace can be created from the product's website and documents you upload. Screens are recreated less exactly than when DemoVexa reads the code.

Pricing and AI costs

How much does DemoVexa cost, including Claude and ElevenLabs?

The trial is $0 for 14 days and needs no card. After that, Solo is $29 a month ($290 a year), Team is $79 a month ($790 a year) and Agency is $199 a month ($1,990 a year), in US dollars, tax excluded. Claude is required and is billed by Anthropic, either through a Claude Pro or Max plan with Claude Code or through an Anthropic API key. ElevenLabs is optional, and commercial use of its voices needs its Starter plan or higher. DemoVexa adds no mark-up and does not sell credits.

Do I need a Claude subscription or an API key?

You need one of them. A personal Claude login is for your own use only. Work you do for clients needs an Anthropic API key.

What does the free trial include?

The 14-day trial needs no card and includes 3 videos and 15 renders. It does not include batch builds or project export and import, and each trial video shows a small "Made with DemoVexa" badge. Paid plans remove that badge.

Does DemoVexa add a mark-up to Claude or ElevenLabs?

No. Anthropic bills you for Claude, and ElevenLabs bills you for AI voiceovers, each on your own account. DemoVexa does not add a mark-up and does not sell credits.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 14 days of your first payment, and within 14 days of each yearly renewal, email support@demovexa.com and the payment is refunded in full. Monthly renewals are not refunded. You can cancel any time and keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for.

Privacy and where your code goes

Does DemoVexa upload my source code?

No. The code folder is never uploaded to DemoVexa. Relevant code and docs go to Claude through your own Anthropic account, and, when you use an ElevenLabs voice, the script text goes to ElevenLabs through your own key. Your own recordings are timed on your computer. Voiceovers and renders stay on your computer unless you email a marketing kit (uploaded for a 7-day download link) or share a workspace with your team (stored on DemoVexa's servers). DemoVexa's cloud also stores your account, licence and usage counts. Your keys stay in the operating system's keychain.

Requirements and setup

Which computers does DemoVexa run on?

macOS 13 or newer on Apple Silicon (Intel Macs aren't supported yet), Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), and Linux x64 as an AppImage. 16 GB of RAM is recommended, with about 5 GB of disk for the app plus room for your videos. The app includes its own Node.js and video renderer, so the only other thing to install is Claude Code. Git is optional. You need internet while Claude and ElevenLabs are working. Rendering works offline. The desktop downloads are an Apple Silicon .dmg, a Windows .exe and a Linux AppImage.

Are the downloads signed?

No. Current builds are not notarized or signed. On a Mac, before the first open, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/DemoVexa.app in Terminal. On Windows, if SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.

Can I install DemoVexa with npm?

Yes. With Node.js 20 or newer, run npm install -g demovexa and then demovexa run. The same studio downloads on the first run and opens in your browser at http://local.demovexa.com:1557. It runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.

Output: formats, languages, updates

What formats and resolutions does DemoVexa export?

DemoVexa exports 1080p MP4 in 16:9 (1920×1080), 9:16 (1080×1920) and 1:1 (1080×1080), plus covers, ready-to-post copy, and captions as SRT or VTT. Animated videos can also use a green-screen or transparent background.

How do I make one demo in many languages?

DemoVexa supports 85 languages, every language ElevenLabs Eleven v3 speaks. Claude writes each script in that language, product and UI names stay as they are, and scenes re-time to that voiceover. Each language version counts as a new video.

Can one project render vertical and square videos?

Yes. One build renders 16:9 (1920×1080), 9:16 (1080×1920) and 1:1 (1080×1080), each with its own layout rather than a crop of the others. Each format counts as one render.

How do I keep demo videos up to date after a release?

Rebuild the video from the latest code, or ask for the change in plain words. On a paid plan you can queue batch builds and let them run overnight.

Claude, agencies and other tools

What is the best tool to make product demo videos from code?

There isn't one best tool. They differ by what you start from. DemoVexa reads a local code folder and rebuilds the UI. PushPlay works from GitHub pull requests. Screenwright works from Playwright tests.

How does DemoVexa compare with PushPlay, Screenwright and Synthesia?

DemoVexa reads your local code and rebuilds the UI as animation, so there is no screen recording. PushPlay works from GitHub pull requests. Screenwright works from Playwright tests. Synthesia makes avatar videos from a script.

What are alternatives to screen recording for SaaS demos?

Alternatives include code-rebuilt animation (DemoVexa and PushPlay), test-driven capture (Screenwright), avatar videos (Synthesia) and interactive tours (Arcade).

Can I use DemoVexa from Claude Code or Claude Desktop?

Yes, since version 0.3.0. Connect Claude Desktop or Claude Code and Claude can make, check, revise and render videos. Setup is on the docs page Use DemoVexa from Claude.

Is DemoVexa a good fit for agencies?

The Agency plan is the one for client work: unlimited workspaces, 10 seats, unlimited batch builds and 500 GB of shared storage. Each workspace has its own brand kit. A project exports as a .demovexa file for client hand-off. Client work needs an Anthropic API key.
