Introduction
What DemoVexa is, how it turns your app's code into a product video, and what you need before you start.
DemoVexa is a studio that runs on your computer and makes marketing videos for your software product. Claude reads your app's code and docs, writes the script and builds an animated video that recreates your real screens, and ElevenLabs records the voiceover.
This page explains how a video gets made, what you need, and what stays on your computer.
#How a video gets made
Every video moves through the same steps. You can stop and edit at each one, or let Claude do the work and only review.
- Workspace. Each product gets a workspace. You point it at your app's code folder, Claude analyzes the app, and you add your logo, colours and design style. See Workspaces.
- Brief. You say what the video is about in a line or two. Claude writes the brief from your how-to guides and app code: the story, the audience, the platform, the formats, the tone, the length and the call to action. See Brief.
- Script. Claude writes the voiceover lines, the on-screen captions, the title card and the end card. See Script.
- Voice. ElevenLabs generates the voiceover. The voice comes before the animation because the animation is timed to the spoken words. See Voice.
- Animate. Claude plans the scenes for you to approve, then builds the video in code. It reads your app's code, recreates the real screens, times the cursor clicks to the words, adds captions and the end card, and checks its own work. See Animate.
- Export. You render MP4 files in the formats you need: Reel 9:16, Landscape 16:9 and Square 1:1. See Export.
- Publish. Claude writes the posts for LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube, a blog post, and cover images. See Publish.
Tip
At any step you can click Ask Claude and describe a change in plain words, such as "Shorten the script to 30 seconds" or "Zoom in closer on each click".
#Video types
When you start a project you pick one of four types.
| Type | Made from | Starts as |
|---|---|---|
| Product Intro | Animated UI | 30 s, LinkedIn |
| Feature Demo | Animated UI | 40 s, Website |
| Feature Launch | Animated UI | 20 s, LinkedIn |
| Event Recap | Your photos and clips | 15 s, LinkedIn |
The three animated types follow the steps above. An Event Recap uses your own media instead of animated screens, so it has Media and Storyboard steps in place of Animate. See Event recaps.
#What you need
- A DemoVexa account. The 14-day free trial needs no card. You sign the app in to your account with a short code. See Signing in.
- Claude. Either your Claude login (Claude Code installed and signed in) or an Anthropic API key. Your Claude login is for your own use only; selling videos or sharing the studio with a team needs an API key.
- An ElevenLabs API key for the voiceover. Commercial use needs a paid ElevenLabs plan (from $6/month).
- A computer that meets the requirements: macOS, Windows 10/11 or Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), Node.js 20.9 or newer, about 20 GB of free disk and 16 GB of RAM or more. See Install DemoVexa.
- Your app's code folder, in any language. DemoVexa only reads it and never changes anything in it. How-to guides or docs in the folder help Claude write better briefs.
Anthropic and ElevenLabs bill you directly, on your own accounts. DemoVexa doesn't mark up their costs.
#What stays on your computer
DemoVexa runs on your computer, and only listens on that computer.
- Stays local: your code, your voiceovers and your rendered videos, plus the studio's database and backups.
- Goes to Anthropic: the relevant parts of your code and docs, through your Claude login or API key, so Claude can plan and build the video.
- Goes to ElevenLabs: the script text, through your API key, to record the voiceover.
- Your keys are kept in your computer's password store and are only sent to Anthropic and ElevenLabs.
If you import your brand from your website, DemoVexa fetches the public website. For the details, see Privacy and data.
